Mic Drop

I've been keeping secrets, but I'm sure you'll understand. You see, there was no post last week because I was recuperating from wonderful short holiday of yarn, road trips, a hens night, finishing a knitted wedding/birthday present, and watching two amazing human beings get married. (Tip: click on the individual photos for a closer view.)       A little background…. I met Mel, the bride, at a speculative fiction convention a couple of years ago. I don’t remember who noticed who’s fibre project first - I’m sure one of us was stitching away and the other bounced up to excitedly ask about it (it’s something we’d both do unabashedly, so I’m confident in claiming it was one of us.) But I do remember deciding pretty much right on the spot that she was going to be a friend (with consent, of course!).  We spent the rest of the convention amassing other stitchers to join us in the front row (we did so well at this that it became a running joke with t...

Surprises better than finding $20 in last year's winter coat

Thank you so much for your supportive words and warm responses to the short story I shared earlier this week. I was feeling a bit anxious about posting, but your responses have definitely bolstered my confidence! I will certainly be sharing more about The Knitter in the future. xx Today was exciting. I got to go on a surprise adventure out to the airport to help a friend out. I didn't particularly mind - I got to go for a drive (we don't own a car so getting to drive anywhere is kind of a treat) and I got to control the radio for a couple of hours. It's nearly the end of school holidays; those of you with kiddos know what I mean when I say that a couple of hours in a space to yourself and not having to share anything is AMAZING. I love my stepdaughter to bits, but a little *me* time sometimes is also nice. This impromptu adventure means that you get an update about what happened yesterday, though, instead of what happened today. I haven't done any knitting yet toda...
